Who can go with a WHV?
Not everyone has the ability to get a WHV. Countries offering WHV all set an age or financial criteria. For a file to be validated, you must also prove that you purchased WHV travel insurance.
Where can I go with a WHV?
The list of countries depends on the agreements signed. The French can go on WHV in the following countries:
- Australia
- Canada
- New Zealand
- Russia
- Japan
- South Korea
- Argentina
- Hong Kong
- Argentina
- Taiwan
- Singapore
The Belgians can go with a WHV in the following countries:
- Canada
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Taiwan.
The WHV insurance
When filing your application, you must provide a WHV travel insurance certificate which proves that your medical expenses are supported by your insurer. What requirements to which countries?
Unless otherwise noted, applicants have to be between 18 and 30 years. Listed below are the different criteria by the countries offering WHV:
Australia:
Minimal resources: Approximately € 3,400.
Legal requirements: to provide a criminal record from the countries you lived in more than 12 months
Period where we can apply: all year because the quotas are generally not achieved.
Canada:
Age: 18-35 years for French and 18-30 years for Belgians.
Minimal resources: Approximately € 3,400.
Period where we can apply: beginning of the year. Learn more on the Canada Citizenship and Immigration because the quotas are achieved within hours.
New Zealand:
Minimal resources: Approximately € 2,700.
Medical requirements: People on dialysis have little chance to get their PVT. If there is a risk that you have tuberculosis (journey in a risky country), you must provide a lung X-ray.
Legal requirements: provide an extract from a clean criminal record.
Period where you can apply: all year because the quotas are generally not achieved.
Argentina:
Minimal resources: Approximately € 2,500.
Medical Requirements: medical certificate attesting that you are healthy.
Legal requirements: provide an extract from a clean criminal record.
Period where you can apply: Before the quota is reached. In 2014, it was achieved in December.
Hong Kong:
Minimal resources: Approximately € 2,500.
Period where we can apply: Before the quota is reached. In 2014, it was in September.
Japan:
Minimal resources: Approximately € 3,100.
Medical Requirements: medical certificate attesting that you are healthy.
Period where you can apply: all year because the quotas are generally not achieved.
